Description

Seen in a mirror, a dancer has playfully stolen her beau's top hat and holds it in her hands, but realises that he does not find this amusing as he stretches out his hand for her to give it back to him. Behind them is another mirror which shows the reflection of the characters back views. If you think about it, the dancer and her beau are both actually standing behind the viewer of the painting, but the viewer, that is, us, cannot be seen, so this presents a bit of an interesting paradox.
